                                                  About Us                                                      

The Merl Grove High School Past Student Association - North Eastern American Chapter was founded on July 15, 2004.  The Association is registered in Maryland, United States and emerged out of an email link of past students around the world.  The MGHS-PSA-NEAC plans to work closely with the alma mater and all other alumnae chapters at home and abroad to realize the goals set by all.  The current president, Andrea McDonald-Black, is actively working with both the Toronto, Canada chapter and the Jamaican Chapter to provide support, funding for structural renovations, scholarships and all round assistance in whatever capacity we can provide the alma mater.

                                                             MGHS History                                            

Merl Grove was founded in 1919 by the late Nathaniel Speid and his daughter, Miriam.  The school began in a "little red house" with approximately 30 students - male and female.  Today, at 80 years old,  it has grown beyond the "little red house" providing education for more than 1,000 students in the corporate area of Jamaica...more

Our Goals

  • Aggressive recruitment of all MGHS past students in our jurisdiction

  • Adopt and maintain current by-laws and constitution

  • Set objectives that actively serves the members and our community

  • Set a schedule of events that incorporates the majority of our members

  • Collect dues for operational purposes as well as fundraising events for our Alma Mater herein referred to as Merl Grove High School

  • Build lasting relationships, by incorporating membership certificates

  • Quarterly newsletters, annual founders day dinners and fellowship day picnics etc.

  • Maintain a business directory and build a strong resource for future PSA

Our Mission

MGHS -PSA NEAC aims to provide an enabling and fostering environment for the intellectual, emotional and social growth of each member of our Chapter. We strive to do this by providing a welcoming aura to all individuals, including an open-door policy to all MGHS Alumni worldwide.     

In upcoming exec board and house meetings, we plan to seek new and creative ways to support and uplift Merl Grove High school in whatever areas we are needed.  Though not yet where we want to be in terms of financial stability, we feel as though this is an attainable goal and one that we intend to focus our efforts most closely upon in order to provide the afore-mentioned setting we seek

 

                  Our Purpose

  1. To promote social unity and friendship among our members

  2. To assist the board of directors of Merl Grove High School in

  3. The pursuit of their goal towards furthering the welfare of the school

  4. To continually strive to uplift our Alma Mater and all who enter her gates

  5. To provide assistance, financially and personally when called upon to do so

  6. maintain a directory of and communicate with all members of our Chapter
